Day 4 : Weather

‘Rain, I don’t mind’

Very cold day in Liverpool. Started with sleet. Moved onto rain. All with a cold wind. Didn’t matter to me and Jay the Fab Four Taxi Tour cabbie who took me around all the Beatles sites in Liverpool. Including the house John Lennon lived in from age five to fame with his Aunt Mimi.

The photo idea was Jay’s and it was a tops one!

The tour hit all the highlights – the homes of the lads, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane and so on, at each stop some background and part of the The Beatles story but also the story of Liverpool the city.

The highlight was the final stop at The Casbah Coffee Club and the story told by Roag Best about the real origins of The Beatles and the part that Mona Best (mother of Pete Best) played in helping The Beatles get their start, including raising their profile, giving them shows, helping deal with the Hamburg debacle and doing the deal with Brian Epstein.  Roag was a great story teller and brought that time to life. Plus, I am now separated from the Beatles by only 2 degrees.
